For some reason when I click the item page for the item in question, it says "shipping: worldwide" I have no idea how this happened, or if it was a glitch or what.
If it did somehow get listed as being eligible to ship to worldwide, I will gladly honor what the listing said, I'm just having two small dilemmas, as I have never shipped international before.
1) The winner is in Indonesia, and is requesting an invoice. How do I know how much to charge for international shipping? My item weighs 1kg 135g (not including packaging), and I will likely ship through USPS, I'm guessing. There is an address that shows on the item detail page, but it doesn't tell me if it is confirmed, since he hasn't paid yet!
2) Immediately prior to winning the auction, the winner sent me a message through eBay that says
"Hi, I can't pay coz no specified shipping cost to Indonesia. I get free shipping, right?"
What is he talking about?? The shipping tab says "Free shipping to: United States" If he changes the country in the drop-down box, it says "get rates". I'm not sure what he's trying to pull...
I see a couple problems. But first the answer to how you are shipping worldwide can be explained that ebay auto opted you into the gsp, Or if you didn't have the countries all checked as EXCLUDED within your site preferences (which you have to do to block all countries outside the US. And then clarify in your TOS that you ONLY ship to the US. Your ship section & wording says ships us standard 1st class on that item & then shows all the countries as shipping allowed. But the buyer is told via clicking on the show rates as to contact you for a quote to their location. I'm guessing you now have this buyers address? shown in the details of the sale. So if you're using the usps to ship (IMO use tracking on that package to be protected from INR) go to the po site & input the info to get a quote for your item. And then use that info for the rate to buyer & send the invoice to them.
Make sure then after all of this if you aren't shipping wordwide that you go to your site preferences located in the drop down menu of account & show all & scroll down to the ship section (right side edit link) & check off all boxes to all countries places outside the US to block & save. Then scroll down that page further to make sure under your third party authorizations section that ebay hasn't added business policies, selling manager (that opts you into junk ebay wants & not what you want sometimes) & revoke anything you don't recognize & save. Then up in the ship section top of page it will show the GSP (global ship program) edit link & ck NO & save.
In your SYI form under ship section make sure international isn't checked as well as gsp if it is still showing in there. For when you go to list more stuff. You have to now watch your preferences like a hawk to make sure ebay isn't opting you & checking off stuff you don't need/want sneaky petes that they are lately. Oh & clarify better in your description area when you offer free ship that it is to US only & not just say free standard ship as it's confusingThe item is indeed offered through GSP, but GSP apparently doesn't ship to Indonesia, so the buyer wants you to ship there yourself.
A couple of things...
Just because you say "no international shipping", you need to block countries on the Excluded Countries list to prevent purchases. Unfortunately, not only does eBay opt people into GSP without them knowing, they also strip out Excluded Countries on those listings. If you want to exclude, you have to add the countries back in too.
I have discovered another "glitch" thanks to a friends listings... he lists with "mobile" now (which I keep telling him is a bad idea). He got a buyer from India. He has India blocked, but apparently when he lists with mobile, SYI form is not offering him to apply the Excluded Country List, so it got listed without his list applied, and no countries were blocked. Not sure if that's just his mobile device or what (I don't even have one), but the only way to fix it is to go edit the listing with a computer.
If you do get a GSP buyer, you only ship to Kentucky... no need to charge for international shipping, they do that by tacking it on to your listing for you. But Indonesia isn't apparently GSP.
