~From the mid 1980’s Chanel bags were made with authenticity cards bearing a serial number with a matching serial number sticker on the inside lining of the bag. Over the years there have been slight changes to the sticker and style of numbering used.

~Chanel Serial Stickers – 1986 – 1988

~The serial number begins with a 0. The sticker has a seven digit serial number printed on a white sticker overlaying Chanel logos. An opaque film covers the sticker.

~Chanel Serial Stickers – 1989 – 1991

~The serial number begins with a 1. The sticker has a seven digit serial number printed on a white sticker overlaying Chanel logos. An opaque film covers the sticker. 0’s have no strikethroughs whilst 1’s have serifs (have feet).

~Chanel Serial Stickers – 1991 – 1994

~The serial number now begins with a 2. The sticker has a seven digit serial number printed on a white sticker with Chanel logos. An opaque film covers the sticker. 1’s are sans-serif (no feet). 0’s have no strikethroughs. Serial numbers begin with numbers up to 27.

From stickers beginning with 57, 0’s have strikethroughs. The number 1 has small serifs (feet) from serial stickers beginning with 57. An X cut line prevents the sticker from being removed without damage. CHANEL appears on the right side of the sticker. To the left side is a dark line. Gold speckles appear on the sticker. For serial numbers beginning with 57 the sticker has only 2 Chanel logos.
