Just a word about the new defect data. I keep pretty close control of my feedback so I notice when I take a hit on the stars.
20% of my low ratings for the last year DID NOT EVEN BELONG TO MY ACCOUNT. THEY HAVE BEEN REMOVED.
That's a pretty large error rate for negative scores that affect my account that did not have anything to do with my account. Apparently, the computer just pulled them out of thin air.
Take a look at your ratings and call ebay to question each one that does not jive with positive feedback left by the buyer
It's more important now - ebay needs to clean up their false "defects" They won't do it unless you literally call and challenge them on it.
Thats right. One of the bad ratings suddenly showed up on my report last month. This latest one showed up on the new report. Both were in catagories that would have counted in the old or new rating method. Both had item id numbers associated with them but no transaction id numbers. I have a 2 more with no transaction id numbers, but they are in catagories that won't be counted and will fall off at the end of April anyway.
I do wonder however, what these 2 dings placed on my account in error have done to my placement rating with my active listings??? I can't help but think that my listings have been dropped in ranking because of the errors.
All I know is that I questioned two and two got removed. I did not call and state that I wanted to dispute the rating, I just asked them to tell me what month the low rating occured (because they never showed on my reports). This caused them to look at the actual record rather than give me the canned speech about removing feedback.
The only problem is that all of the DSRs that were 3 and cancellations that you never knew would count against you, as well as other criteria that we did not concern ourselves with will not be available until April 30 when the DSRs are no long anonymous. You will then, need to run a report in order to know all of the dings that will have to be addressed. This takes away from valuable time needed in changing pictures, categories, and other changes to meet eBay criteria. I would suggest that eBay not count these new defects before Aug 20 and allow sellers to revamp without so much cost. But then, that requires that they actually come out to help and stand by their sellers in an effort to show that the sellers really do mean something to them.
Further, I suggest that sellers that survive the yearly fires and slaughter produced by eBay be refered to as: the "Phoenix Sellers" Just as I am coming out of the changes they throw at us, they burn us down again. Please, eBay, give us a break for just one year.
