How to choose a vintage marine item-spotlight, passage light etc

The internet is loaded with thousands of sellers selling the same product that is in demand and in latest trend. In such a situation it becomes a challenge for the buyer to identify the genuine items that could be a value for their hard earned money. Below mentioned are few of my tips that could help you in making smart decisions in purchasing any vintage and antique marine items on the internet.
Always find listings that has multiple images from various angles of the single product. The images should be super size images that will help you see and feel the material and its age. Although its very difficult to make out the exact age of an item with naked eyes but the texture and the surface of the metal will speak a lot about its genuiness.
Most sellers selling replicas in the name of genuine items do not share such images as it has a high polished finish and a shinny look. Making an attempt to give it a dull and antique look is a great task and needs a high knowledge of metallurgy especially when making for bulk quantity. Also to make genuine parts like the primitive items will cost a lot for the makers. Most replicas are brittle in nature and cannot withstand rough climate unlike the original items that were made to exist for decades.
Just keep a portion of the metal in a salt water for a couple of days and you can see the white and green fungus germinating on it to start the corrosion process. Whereas the original ones wont.
Also the genuine ones are heavy in nature.
Last but not the least... sellers selling the replicas may soon agree to slashing the rate on request to a considerable extent living you in amazement and excitement... its up to you to make calculative decisons :)
The above mentioned tips are based on my true knowledge and can vary from one expert to another. Wish you a wise buying experience!!
