Well circulated silver coins are probably the best

This is my response to reading a very good review on buying silver bullion and the author mentioning survival Silver:  Well circulated silver coins are probably the best, because they are worth their melt down value, as if someone will recognize privately minted bullion/coins as legit (sorry BitCoin).  Eagles (Walking Liberty) and Morgans both 90% pure, are well known and I always look for fair-to-good mint markings. When faced with survival, nobody cares if your coins are uncirculated proofs or encased in plastic with a barcode. I only have a few gold coins admittedly they're easier to carry but who is going to make change for a grand and six in a crisis? Also, I see something called "rainbow" silver, which is nonsense. It is simply oxidation of the silver exposed to atmospheric sufur compounds. When buying silver coins look at the day's spot silver prices and make your choice to buy or not. Remember, there are 28.35 grams to the ounce and grains are not what you should be looking for. In my "bug out" backpack in addition to paper money, I have; a few rolls of silver coins, iodine tablets, and aspirin, all of which can be used as money. I read somewhere bullets can be used as money, but when you buy something with bullets to someone with an empty gun, they usually get it back, or you'll get it IN the back.
