Why would anyone want to pay $30, $50, $70 or more for a razor when you can buy disposable one for $2.50? The answer is simple. They look amazing, feel great in the hand, and are better balanced. They show class. Why buy diamond earrings when the fake ones look the same. They are often BETTER then the manufactured handle. These are made with pride by a human being. The quality control is far superior then a factory made razor. Important points to consider The greatest advantage to owning a handmade razor is that it is unique. If you want to stand out from the person next to you, hold something handmade. Handmade means one of a kind. I've made 1,000's of razor handles since the late 90's and I haven't seen any two that are identical. Buy American! People talk about this a great deal now. The problem is, it's very difficult to do. Most things we purchase are made in a country overseas. Buying these foreign items doesn’t help our economy or your wallet. Big business survives on inferior products made and designed to be disposed. Building disposable items ensures future purchases. Craftsmen such as myself have a different philosophy. We don’t sit behind a desk. We create items that will outlast our intended customers. We have pride in our work. What you want If you are a razor collector, you have a good grasp on what to look for in a quality shaving instrument. Here are some tips: Buy quality and you won't be disappointed. Find out who the maker is, how long they have been making razors, and what other people say about them. Make sure the seller is also the maker. Buy a razor that is built to last! The key features here are the craftsmanship and quality of materials. Don't buy any razor that has not been finished with CA glue. Oils, waxes, lacquers, polyurethanes, shelax, ect... doesn't hold up. The oils on the skin and the rigors of daily use will remove that finish in a few weeks. If it doesn't say CA glue finish, DON'T BUY IT! The other finishes are easy to apply and take little skill. CA is difficult to apply but is essential. It basically envelopes the pen in a nearly indestructible coating of water proof plastic. Furthermore, the CA finish provides for a deep, lustrous, high sheen that is pleasing to the eyes and hands. Appearance. This is very important but most people don't think about it. You see something you find pretty and buy it. Do the same with anything handmade. It'll be with you forever.
