Which diaper bag do you choose?
Pick the bag! There are so many different options when picking a diaper bag... traditional, backpack style or minimal. As a mother of two I can't tell you how important it is to pick a bag that is comfortable for you. For example, if you don't carry a purse now, carrying around a big bulky diaper bag is going to frustrate you. Let's take a minute to look over each style.

The traditional bag:
This bag is known as the tote style and is generally large with many pockets both inside and outside of the bag. Inside compartments help to separate items and prevent it from becoming a mass of baby stuff. Very few bags have more than a single pocket on the side. A single strap allows you to carry items easily on the shoulder. Many come with a changing pad as well.

Tip:
This style is generally cheaper and easier to find. When choosing, small bags for lotions or medicines come in handy for inside storage.


Back pack/messenger style:
This is a smaller bag that also has many compartments. The pockets allow for easy sorting inside the bag and the outside pockets are great for personal keeping your items separate from baby's. Two straps allow for easier weight distribution and straps are often padded for even more comfort.

Tip:
Design options for this bag are vast so it's a great co-ed bag for dads as well.

Minimal style:
This option is great for the non-purse carrier. Its smaller size and very basic design allows its holder to carry bare essentials easily.  Internal pockets are still an option but generally not as many are available.

Tip:
When choosing this option, look for a large center pocket for bottle, diaper and wipe storage.
No matter which style you choose, you'll want to find what's going to be the most comfortable for you and your needs. Here are a few important things to keep in mind when choosing:
Is this bag big enough for the items I need to carry?
Is this bag easy to clean?
Will my spouse carry this bag?
Will I need to purchase anything extra to make this bag work?
