How to Choose an Ink Cartridge for Your Printer

I don't know how many times I have run out of ink and had to search through the many cartridges on eBay. Let's just say...it isn't easy! With all of the generic and refurbished cartridges, how do you really know what you're getting?
For this guide, we will be looking for a cartridge that goes to the printer at the left.
Know your printer model...
The first thing that you need to know is the make and model of your printer. This can typically be found somewhere on the front or top of the device. The example that we're using happens to be a Kodak Hero 5.1

Find the ink cartridge make/model
If you already have cartridges in your printer, this part should be very easy. Just open the cover of the printer and look at your cartridge. It should have a sticker on top with the make/model. If you do not have a cartridge currently installed, you will have to consult the manual. If that is not available, you can always look up the information online.
In this instance, the printer takes Kodak 30 Black & Tri-Color cartridges. Some printers have a different cartridge for each color (cyan, magenta, yellow) but this one does not.
