I can verify that the low priced cellphone accessories category is saturated.

I was watching a Youtube video about search placement. Some guy was using a live example and showed a competitor of his who sold a lot if inexpensive cell phone products. Apparently the market is so saturated that top placement is critical for these listings that were about $4.00.

Anyhow, the one guy was explaining and actually showed how his competitor was hiding his completed search results by starting his listings as GTC even though they would only take a day or two to sell and apparently the history dissapears? Can anyone verify this?At that price, I'd be surprised if his profit margin were more than 10% which means $200k in sales is about $20k in profit. Not a very big haul for all that work.


I'll have to look into how completeds are different for the GTC listings. I know you can check the sales history while it is live, but if they sell quickly and the listing isn't included in the sold lists, then there's no way to look at history. It would also skew sold results for those who sell multiples. ebay has a lot of smoke and mirrors.
